Habitat                       : A shurb found in warm places.

Distribution                : Distributed to subtropical region.

Sikkim                         : Kabi, Phodong, Pangolakha, Subanay Dara, Hee-gyathang, Luwing, Gangtok,Kopchey (Rhenock).

Outside                       : Khasia hills, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nepal.

General                       : Himalyas (Nepal- Arunachal Pradesh), Assam, Myanmar, Thailand, China.

Morphological information

A shrub; branches with appressed hairs. Leaves 7.5-10 cm, elongate oblong-lanceolate 5-nerved. Softly hairy on both surfaces, petiole less than 3 mm. Bracts ovate, glabrous, villous, center of the backs villose. Flowers purple mauve or white, in small rather close corymbs, calyx-tube with large flat scales fringed with bristles of which 5 prominently alternate with the calyx-teeth; calyx teeth large broad lanceolate glabrous ciliate. Fruit 20 by 8 mm, campanulate, truncate, scales permanent.

Flowering                    : July-September

Fruiting                       : November-February.

Parts                           : Flower, leaves.

Status                         : Low risk .

 

 

Medicinal                     : Flower, pounded and applied to sores in the mouth.

 

Traditional                   : Decoction of the root is applied on the sore in the mouth. (Lepcha System, and Nepali System).
